Hi Panama! 🙂 Thank you for your question! My studies in Padua were focussed on the mental complex calculation. In particular, I wanted to understand which brain areas were involved when we perform two-digit additions and subtractions mentally. I discovered that although addition and subtraction are different mathematical processes, they involve same brain areas of the left and right hemisphere although to a different extent. I found that parietal areas, like intraparietal sulcus (this is brain region where the numbers are representeted), angular and supramarginal gyri of both hemispheres are involved in the complex mental calculation.
      All the best,
      Maria
