That’s a great question! I love my job, and I find it incredibly rewarding, but that doesn’t mean that I dont sometimes struggle with difficulty at work. Learning to balance the demands of my job (teaching, outreach and research) has been tough at times, but totally worth it. Sometimes jobs can be very hard, but doing something you love makes it a bit easier. I hope that answers your question.

Hi, thanks for the question. In terms of my work in mental health, both completely. I’m sure it’s not hard at all to imagine how rewarding it can be but also how hard it can be too so I won’t go into too much detail about that!

In terms of my PhD I think it’s less obvious, but yes it can be difficult. Since a PhD is a long three years on one project it can be easy to lose motivation and to sometimes lose sight of why you’re doing it. Especially when things aren’t quite going to plan or working out. I’ve had my fair share of moments where i’ve wondered if i’m dong the right thing! However, there are also times where it really highlights that what you’re doing is important. I’ve found that going to conferences and meeting with other PhD students is a great help and people are really interested in my research which always surprises me! Also, talking to my participants really helps. They share their personal stories with me and i’m so privileged to hear them and to be trusted to use them to do something that can be useful for other people. I love my job though, I no longer hate Sundays because I look forward to going back to my office!
